Community Regeneration
Whilst the majority of our work consists of helping people with short-term problems, we are passionate about bringing about long-term change and growth in the community. To do this, we have begun a Community Regeneration project, looking to bring about lasting change in our local area by helping to make our community stronger, more resilient and allowing us to be influential in the decisions that affect each and every one of us.
We work with local residents, community groups and organisations to build a plan for the long-term future of our community. This work includes supporting ‘the Blondin Group’, a resident-led community development group that helps residents to organise community events, such as the hugely successful annual fun day, as well as enabling local people to set up and run a community website and newspaper.
It is not just ourselves at Karis that are overseeing this regeneration; we must also thank the following for their continuing support in the project:
• The Karis Medical Centre
• The St. George’s Church in Edgbaston
• The Church Urban Fund Exchange
• The Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund
• The Birmingham City Council (through the Successful Neighbourhoods Fund)
